The 15th International Conference on E-business, Management and Economics (ICEME 2024)

Welcome all of you to join The 15th International Conference on E-business, Management and Economics (ICEME 2024), which was held between the 19-21 July, 2024. ICEME 2024 continued the impressive tradition and serve as a vital global platform, gathering scholars, social partners, and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and best practices. For 3 days, there were amazing keynote and invited speeches, interesting presentations, and engaging discussions on future challenges in the expertise of e-business, management, and economics.

The Opening Remarks is given by Conference Chair Prof. Thomas Hanne, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. Prof. Hanne warmly welcomed the participants, acknowledging the ever-increasing importance of the conference in bringing together experts from diverse fields of E-business and management. And Prof. Yongan Zhang, from Beijing University of Technology also gave a speech to all the participates. He highlighted the vital role that ICEME plays in fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and government to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing global business and economics today.

Following Prof. Hanne's opening, Prof. Huizheng Liu, Vice Dean of Beijing University of Technology, delivered the Welcome Remarks. Prof. Liu extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees and expressed his excitement for the opportunity to host such a distinguished gathering. He commended the conference’s commitment to advancing knowledge in key areas such as e-commerce, management, and economics.

Prof. Liu emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing the global challenges of the digital age, noting that the rapidly evolving fields of business and economics require constant adaptation and innovation. His remarks underscored the significance of conferences like ICEME in providing a forum for sharing cutting-edge research, fostering global partnerships, and driving the next wave of business and economic development.

Conference Committee

ICEME 2024 featured three impactful Keynote Addresses, each offering unique perspectives on the future of business, technology, and management.

  1. Prof. J. Alberto Aragon-Correa, University of Granada, Spain
    Speech Title: Evolving Metrics: From Traditional Assessments to Big Data Analytics in Measuring Firm Environmental Performance

    In his keynote, Prof. Aragon-Correa examined the evolving landscape of environmental performance measurement in businesses. He discussed how traditional metrics, such as carbon emissions and resource usage, have given way to more sophisticated approaches enabled by big data analytics. By leveraging large datasets and advanced analytical tools, businesses can now gain more accurate and real-time insights into their environmental impact. Prof. Aragon-Correa’s address was particularly relevant in the context of growing global emphasis on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

  2. Assoc. Prof. Siew H. Chan, University of North Georgia, USA
    Speech Title: AI or Human? Opportunities and Challenges

    Assoc. Prof. Chan delivered a compelling keynote on the interaction between artificial intelligence (AI) and human capabilities in modern business environments. He explored the opportunities and challenges posed by AI in areas such as decision-making, customer service, and talent management. Prof. Chan discussed the growing role of AI in automating tasks traditionally performed by humans, while also addressing ethical concerns regarding AI's impact on employment and human agency. His speech prompted thought-provoking questions about the future of work and the evolving relationship between human intelligence and artificial intelligence.

  3. Prof. Lin Xiu, University of Minnesota – Duluth, USA
    Speech Title: The Impact of AI on Talent Management

    Prof. Lin Xiu focused on the transformative impact of AI on talent management in organizations. She discussed how AI-driven tools are being used to streamline recruitment, performance evaluations, and employee engagement. By utilizing AI algorithms, businesses can make more data-driven decisions when it comes to hiring, training, and retaining talent. Prof. Xiu also explored the challenges related to the integration of AI in human resource practices, such as bias in AI algorithms and the need for human oversight. Her keynote provided valuable insights into how AI is reshaping the future of talent management.
